Gwyn + Liam– A fabulous micro wedding at the SeaWinds Estate in Bandon, Oregon

Choosing a Micro Wedding or Elopement

The choice to elope, or opt for a nontraditional micro wedding, means choosing an intentional experience over material things and traditions that may or may not mean anything to you.

Choosing a beautiful spot, big enough for all their closest people, but small and remote enough to feel intimate, was a no brainer for Gwyn and Liam. Truly two of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Their easy going nature and thoughtfulness was on display throughout the entire event.

The Venue + Getting Ready

SeaWinds Estate is stunning. Any word in the English language that means “beautiful” could be applied and it simply wouldn’t do it justice.

An expansive home that sits atop a cliff on 72 acres of Oregon Coast land. Windows, decks, and views galore.

Starting the day spending valuable time together, relaxing and getting ready for the ceremony. Gwyn booked Styled by Daralyn to do hair and make up for herself, her best friends and her mom.

A cute dance party ensued before Gwyn got her dress on.

Mom also helped Gwyn get her custom ballet slippers on. I love this idea for a bridal shoe. Comfy, cute, and personalized. Of course, it’s not terribly practical for a more active elopement, but it makes perfect sense for a day like this one.

Meanwhile, the men relaxed by playing some billiards in the living room.

Liam and his mom got ready across the house. A smaller room, than the bridal suite, but check out those glorious windows!

After finishing touches, Gwyn did a first look with all the ladies. It is so clear how much these women care for each other and for Gwyn.

First Look

I love First Looks. I love any tender moment, but first looks are special because everyone is so excited. Everyone feels beautiful and they can’t wait to see their favorite person feeling their best. Gwyn and Liam’s first look, overlooking the ocean, did not disappoint.

Some pre-ceremony group portraits.

The Ceremony

The Oregon Coast sky cleared completely in time of this cliffside ceremony. With the ocean as the backdrop, Gwyn and Liam had their best friend officiate.

Parents and friends descended from the porch to join the ceremony.

It was a short, but beautiful ceremony and vow exchange.

Chill Time

After the ceremony, the whole crew gathered on the steps of the deck. A champagne pop and toast was in order.

Afterward, there was plenty more down time for everyone, looking fabulous, to relax and drink some cocktails together. As the sun shone down on the coast, Gwyn and Liam spent some meaningful time together, laughing and lounging.

Sacchi Beach

Sacchi beach is only accessible by car if you’re staying in the neighborhood where SeaWinds Estate is. You can, however, access it by hiking around the point during low tide. I feel super lucky to have visited such a place.

It really is a stunning beach, and I can see a possible future camping trip there… hiking in my tent around the point… how fun! Perhaps even for an overnight elopement…

Gwyn has a history of modeling wedding dresses for David’s Bridal, and is so fun, carefree and natural in front of the camera. She also has a propensity for thrifting, and she came prepared with more dresses… The gown she wore for the ceremony is gorgeous, but not so easy to frolic in– a thrifted vintage gown with flowing layers of tulle and lace, however, is.

Dinner + Toasts

The night ended with a delicious catered meal and beautiful toasts from friends and family. Speaking about your love and feelings for people is not easy, and I admire people with the courage to do so… every time. Tender moments between parents and children, brothers and sisters, lifelong friends and chosen family.

Gwyn and Liam seamlessly blended elements of a micro wedding and an elopement into one thoughtful day. Full of the things they care about most– their friends, their family, laidback celebrations, and nature.

Oregon Coast Micro Wedding Photographer

Hi y’all. I’m an Oregon transplant, currently based in Bend, who has spent my entire career leading folks through nature. From teaching 5th and 6th graders on the redwood coast of the bay area, to leading scuba trips in Belize– my greatest joy comes from helping people connect with nature, and now I get to do it for your Best Day Ever.

I make it my business (literally), to journey and explore places to find unique and picturesque landscapes that serve two main purposes:

  1. Being an excellent backdrop for a ceremony and photos.
  2. Being an interesting place to explore, connect, and be present in during your elopement day.

Planning an elopement can be overwhelming– perhaps not AS overwhelming as a traditional wedding, but still. When it comes time to embark upon that journey, I’d be honored to be your guide. Likewise, I’d be happy to just answer any questions you have about eloping in Oregon.
